Cydia iOS 10.1 jailbreak on iPhone 7
Now, another talented iOS hacker called @ijapija00 has added a video demonstrating his jailbreak, the best thing to be happy is, at this time it confirms the method on an iPhone 7 Plus which runs with iOS 10.1. He also says the Cydia download for iOS 10.1 will also work on iOS 10.1.1 as well.
iOS 10.1.1 is the current and most recent version out of Apple’s iOS releases, so this will be a big hit in the way of breaking Apple iOS 10.1.1’s latest security updates. Apple was having a really hard time on releasing continuous updates to battles against jailbreaking while enhanced fixes on bugs and fixes on security aspects.
This demonstration is built considering a single exploit on iOS and they also report this jailbreak as “Stable”. Really this will be a great achievement when considering the latest improvements of Apple’s KPP on iOS 10 security (Kernel Patch Protection). This security implementations are identified as the main reason to the instability of some jailbreaks.
Same as the Luca Todesco’s demonstration, @ijapija00 method also uses a specialized equivalent library to configure Cydia to run smoothly on the latest iOS 10.1 firmware. So this will open the way to make tweaks on jailbreak to make the environment to run Cydia on the latest iOS 10.1.
Another important thing is @ijapija00 uses several third party system based apps to display device information including the iOS version and model number. He is not following the About tab via Settings menu. It may build some kind of doubt, because it’s not the standard process to show device information. So you have to be attentive to the contents of the video same as the other published demos.
iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak via Pangu, this method appeared in the demo video as a semi-untethered and shows that it depends on a specially developed jailbreak app placed on the Homescreen of device to bot the device in to the jailbreak on each and every reboot. So this is little bit different considering the tethered jailbreak, instead of rebooting the device using a computer it will perform the reboot by itself.
Other way round, similar to the previous demos it seems this jailbreak is not exposed to the public yet. We can clearly see that the iOS 10.1 jailbreak is achieved. But we assume it is not ready to release for the public yet. However it’s not a small thing to develop a jailbreak and release it to the public. There is a big risk and a lot of burden towards him. Anyhow we should thank on his effort about iOS 10.1 jailbreak confirmation.
